How to make a pizza more impressive for serving to your guests? Make it a stromboli! I don’t know what it is about essentially rolling up a pizza into itself, but it’s always more delicious and satisfying to consume. My stromboli always pleases my diner guests.
A good stromboli starts with perfect pizza dough. Roll it out on a well floured surface into a large rectangle. Top the rectangle with pizza sauce, and then a layer of each: salami, provolone slices, pepperoni, shredded mozzarella, and sauteed chopped bell pepper and onions. Then, a second layer.
Then, start carefully rolling the long edge of the pizza rectangle into itself. Continue rolling until you get to the end and pinch the seam along the bottom and tucking the ends in to prevent leakage. Place on a floured sheet pan, seam side down, and cut small slits in the top for venting.
Brush with garlic butter and bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden. Slice into 1 inch “discs” and serve. Enjoy!
